September 2025: TIDES Summer School at USP

Between the 8th and the 12th of September 2025, with support from Ika Bula Consultants, the SOCPacific2R team organized a summer school aiming to provide a “Training in InterDisciplinary and Ethnoecological Studies of reef passages” (TIDES). Participants included not only ten students from The University of the South Pacific (USP), but also three from New Caledonia and one from French Polynesia, who were curious to learn more about reef passages. During this intense week, the participants also learnt about why inter- and transdisciplinarity in research matter, what ethnoecology is and some of the various research methods it uses, what ethnobiology of coral reef systems and their fish has to offer, as well as on research ethics, gender equity approaches, and more… In other words, this week has been full of exciting discussions and fruitful exchanges!
